<h2 id="before-you-start">Before you start</h2><ul><li>Keep your phone within a few metres of Flappie.</li><li>Have your Wi-Fi password ready.</li><li>Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.</li><li>Use the original Flappie power adapter.</li></ul>
<h2 id="1-let-flappie-start-completely">1. Let Flappie start completely</h2><ol><li>Unplug Flappie.</li><li>Wait 10 seconds.</li><li>Reconnect power.</li><li>Wait about three minutes without pressing any buttons.</li></ol><p>Flappie is ready when the four lights have finished their startup sequence.</p>
<h2 id="2-check-the-wi-fi-network">2. Check the Wi-Fi network</h2><p>Flappie connects to <strong>2.4 GHz Wi-Fi</strong>. This is the longer-range Wi-Fi used by many smart-home devices.</p><ul><li>If your router shows only one network name, try that network first.</li><li>If it shows separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, choose the 2.4 GHz one.</li><li>WPA2 and WPA3 security are supported.</li><li>Check the password carefully, including capital letters, spaces and similar characters such as O and 0.</li></ul>
<h2 id="3-start-pairing-mode-again">3. Start pairing mode again</h2><ol><li>Hold the two right-hand buttons on Flappie for about six seconds.</li><li>Release them when all four lights flash.</li><li>In the app, select the detected &#x201C;Catflap&#x201D; with the matching device number.</li><li>Wait until the app shows that setup is complete.</li></ol>
<h2 id="4-if-it-still-does-not-connect">4. If it still does not connect</h2><ul><li>Move Flappie and your phone closer to the router for the test.</li><li>If your router combines 2.4 and 5 GHz under one name, temporarily create a separate 2.4 GHz network or ask your internet provider for help.</li><li>Update the Flappie app from the App Store or Google Play.</li></ul>

Fix Wi-Fi connection problems

Check why Flappie videos or activity may be missing, including the four-day start phase, Wi-Fi, app updates and the types of events Flappie saves.

Exits are intentionally not saved. During the first four days, events can already appear even though prey blocking is still off.</p></div>
<h2 id="1-check-that-flappie-is-online">1. Check that Flappie is online</h2><p>Open the Flappie app and check the device status. If Flappie is offline, follow <a href="https://support.flappiedoors.com/en-US/fix-wi-fi-connection-problems-8026277">Fix Wi-Fi connection problems</a>.</p>
<h2 id="2-check-the-event-type">2. Check the event type</h2><ul><li><strong>Entry:</strong> normally saved when a cat approaches from outside.</li><li><strong>Prey attempt:</strong> normally saved.</li><li><strong>Exit:</strong> intentionally not saved.</li></ul>
<h2 id="3-check-the-camera-area">3. Check the camera area</h2><ul><li>Wipe the camera lens gently with a soft, damp cloth.</li><li>Remove dirt, hair, cobwebs or anything blocking the view.</li><li>Make sure the tunnel and flap can move freely.</li></ul>
<h2 id="4-restart-and-update">4. Restart and update</h2><ol><li>Update the Flappie app from the App Store or Google Play.</li><li>Unplug Flappie, wait 10 seconds and reconnect power.</li><li>Wait about three minutes for it to start and reconnect.</li><li>Leave Flappie connected to power and Wi-Fi so automatic device updates can finish.</li></ol>
<h2 id="how-to-know-it-worked">How to know it worked</h2><p>After a cat enters from outside, a new event should appear in the app once it has been processed and transferred.</p>

No videos or activity in the app

Understand normal infrared night images and fix a camera view that stays black, red, blurred or blocked in daylight.

Night images may therefore look black-and-white or have a slight red tint. That is normal.</p></div>
<h2 id="if-the-image-is-unclear-in-daylight">If the image is unclear in daylight</h2><ol><li>Wipe the camera lens gently with a soft, damp cloth.</li><li>Remove dirt, hair, cobwebs or condensation around the camera opening.</li><li>Check that no object, seal or tunnel part blocks the camera.</li><li>Do not use alcohol, solvents or cleaning spray on the lens.</li></ol>
<h2 id="if-the-image-stays-completely-black-or-red">If the image stays completely black or red</h2><ol><li>Check in the app that Flappie is online.</li><li>Unplug Flappie, wait 10 seconds and reconnect power.</li><li>Wait about three minutes for startup.</li><li>Leave Flappie connected so any automatic update can finish.</li></ol>

Camera image is black, red or unclear

Check lock modes, schedules, power, dirt, alignment and free flap movement when Flappie will not open, close or lock as expected.

A mechanical obstruction or installation alignment can also stop it moving freely.</p></div>
<h2 id="1-check-the-current-mode">1. Check the current mode</h2><ul><li>Open the app and check <strong>Status Flap</strong>.</li><li>Check whether a lock schedule is active.</li><li>Look at the four buttons on top of Flappie. <h2 id="2-check-power">2. Check power</h2><p>Flappie needs power for the camera and lock functions. Use the original power adapter and check that the cable is fully connected. After reconnecting power, wait about three minutes.</p>
<h2 id="3-check-free-movement">3. Check free movement</h2><ol><li>With the flap unlocked, move it gently by hand in both directions.</li><li>It should swing freely and close fully every time.</li><li>Remove dirt, hair or anything caught around the flap or locking area.</li><li>Check that the inside and outside units sit straight and that the mounting screws are not overtightened.</li></ol>
<h2 id="4-restart-flappie">4. Restart Flappie</h2><ol><li>Unplug Flappie.</li><li>Wait 10 seconds.</li><li>Reconnect power and wait about three minutes.</li><li>Test both directions again.</li></ol>
