Fix Wi-Fi connection problemsUpdated 10 days ago
Start with the simple checks
Most connection problems are caused by the Wi-Fi network, the password, Bluetooth or Flappie not having finished starting up.
Before you start
- Keep your phone within a few metres of Flappie.
- Have your Wi-Fi password ready.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
- Use the original Flappie power adapter.
1. Let Flappie start completely
- Unplug Flappie.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Reconnect power.
- Wait about three minutes without pressing any buttons.
Flappie is ready when the four lights have finished their startup sequence.
2. Check the Wi-Fi network
Flappie connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. This is the longer-range Wi-Fi used by many smart-home devices.
- If your router shows only one network name, try that network first.
- If it shows separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, choose the 2.4 GHz one.
- WPA2 and WPA3 security are supported.
- Check the password carefully, including capital letters, spaces and similar characters such as O and 0.
3. Start pairing mode again
- Hold the two right-hand buttons on Flappie for about six seconds.
- Release them when all four lights flash.
- In the app, select the detected “Catflap” with the matching device number.
- Wait until the app shows that setup is complete.
4. If it still does not connect
- Move Flappie and your phone closer to the router for the test.
- If your router combines 2.4 and 5 GHz under one name, temporarily create a separate 2.4 GHz network or ask your internet provider for help.
- Update the Flappie app from the App Store or Google Play.
When contacting support: Include the exact error message, a screenshot, your router model and your internet provider. Never send your Wi-Fi password.
