Installation in GlassUpdated 22 days ago
Flappie can be installed in glass doors and panels — this is actually the most common installation type. Here's what you need to know about hole sizes, adapters, and what to expect.
Required hole diameter
| Hole diameter | Mounting adapter needed? |
|---|---|
| < 212 mm | Too small — Flappie won't fit |
| 212 – 215 mm | No adapter needed |
| > 215 – 270 mm | Mounting adapter required |
| > 270 mm | Too large — glass needs to be replaced or reduced |
The minimum hole diameter is Ø 212 mm. If your hole is between 215 and 270 mm, you'll need a mounting adapter → to fill the gap.
Floor clearance
There should be at least 19 mm between the bottom of the hole and the floor. This ensures the frame sits flush and your cat can step through comfortably.
We recommend a professional glazier
If you don't have an existing hole in your glass, we strongly recommend having one cut by a professional glazier. Tempered and double-glazed panels require specialized tools and expertise. A glazier can also ensure the hole is the right diameter and position for Flappie.
If you already have a hole from a previous cat flap, measure the diameter — there's a good chance Flappie fits directly or with a mounting adapter. See also Replacing an Existing Cat Flap →
Glass thickness
Standard glass doors are typically within the range that works with Flappie's frame (47.5 mm depth). For thicker glass panels or insulated glass units, tunnel extensions → may be needed.
